Seamless Financial Counselor
Patient Registration - Same Day
Full-Time - Days - 40 Hours/Week
Abington Hospital - Jefferson Health
1200 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001
Location: 3 weeks at Abington campus and 1 week at Lansdale Hospital campus

Primary Function:
Provide insurance verification for all patients to include scheduled and unscheduled procedures, inpatients, outpatients and 24-hour observations.

Essential Functions:
  • Verify and interpret benefit information based on the insurance carrier insurance eligibility benefits, including appropriate authorization number, to financially secure accounts 48 hours prior to service. Notifies insurance company within 24 hours of hospital admission.
  • Interprets coordination of benefits, co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance and out-of-pocket liabilities and collects patient liability pre-service, if applicable.
  • Determines patient liability based on benefits and advises Financial Counselor of their patient's liability. Refers to Financial Counselor if patient does not qualify for financial assistance.
  • Works with the physician's practices, patients and family members to obtain all information needed of all service lines within the department.
  • Refers patient to Campus Vendor, a contracted financial assistance program, to determine if patient is eligible for medical assistance health insurance.
  • Pulls schedules for multiple modalities and/or works within assigned system work queue.
  • Financially secures and/or escalates accounts to include authorization, according to policy, prior to date of service.
  • Collects patient liabilites pre-service.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Experience in a healthcare setting, hospital or docotor's office preferred.
  • Other Requirements: Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, Epic, Navinet, STAR, PHS, etc.
