Responsibilities:
Analyze third-party denials and prepare relevant reports regarding trends in denials and rejections. Work with Service Lines, ancillary department's staff and third-party payer provider representatives to identify source of denials and develop processes to eliminate and/or minimize denials and rejections to improve cash flow. Thorough understanding of third-party payer pre-admission, admission, discharge and billing requirements. Maintain understanding of third-party regulations for appeals and appeal follow-up. Interpret data from Denial Management System as it relates to receiving full and proper payments per contractual obligations. Bring accounts to resolution: Develop strategies for appeal, appeal follow-up and/or reprocess accounts. May involve contact with patient, insurers, physician offices and other hospital staff. When appropriate, applies denial and write-off codes in the patient accounting system to ensure correct receivables balance.
Qualifications:

High school diploma.

Some college courses related to third-party billing preferred.

AAHAM CRSCI certification preferred.

3+ years of experience with collections follow-up with insurance carriers.

2+ years of experience with computerized billing systems.

Hands-on experience in billing for a variety of insurance carriers.

Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated knowledge in personal computing applications.

Knowledge of third-party reimbursement.

Excellent organizational and coordination skills.

Solid skills in use of patient accounting system and contract management system.

Knowledge of Word/Excel/Analytics tools.

Ability to manage time effectively.

Thorough understanding of hospital billing and major third-party contracts.
