Full-Time - 8am-4:30pm - Resident Work Hours Based on Program Schedule - 40 Hours/Week

Primary Function:
Under the general direction of the Medical Director/Residency Program Director, provides clinical care to patients presenting for evaluation and treatment with the goal of competency attainment. Participates in educational programs leading to eligibility for board certification. Serves patients ranging in age from newborn through late adulthood, based on residency program.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities – Percentage of Time – Essental Function(s):
  • Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Abington – Jefferson Health (AJH) the hospital of choice for patients and employees. – 40% – E
  • Performs clinical evaluation, treatment and disposition of inpatients and outpatients within the scope of practice, representing their discipline to provide safe, effective and compassionate care in accordance with the organizational mission. – 15% – E
  • Attends/presents educational programs within respective programs, departments, organization and outside agencies in order to achieve background knowledge and mastery of didactic material within their discipline. – 15% – E
  • Understands and masters each of the 6 ACGME competencies (medical knowledge, patient care, professionalism, communication, practice-based learning and improvement, and systems-based practice) to meet ACGME requirements. – 15% – E
  • Participates in quality improvement activities in the residency program, in the organization, and on medical staff committees to meet professional obligations. – 5% – E
  • Maintains duty-hour logs to be in compliance with ACGME requirements while ensuring the health and safety of the resident/patient. – 5% – E
  • Maintains documentation of procedures as defined by Program Director in order to demonstrate clinical competence. – 3% – O
  • Performs scholarly or community activities (i.e., research projects, manuscript preparation, volunteering, etc.) under supervision of Program Director to gain skill/knowledge while advancing career opportunities. – 2% – O

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of accredited medical school.
  • Successful completion of all medical education to allow for attainment of medical licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to function effectively with teams.
