Emergency Care Trauma Unit
Part-Time (0.6 FTE) - 3pm-3:30am - Nights, Weekend Shift Plan; Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun, Every Other Holiday - 24 Hours/Week

Work pattern consists of 3 out of 4 weekends, each consisting of 3 12-hour shifts beginning Friday at 5am and going no later than Tuesday at 7am with a patterned weekend off.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the professional registered nurse functions within the Professional Nursing law and according to professional standards and his/her level of knowledge and experience. He/she assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients (or patient) for a designated time frame by prescribing, delegating and coordinating nursing care. The nurse provides care to the patient population of a specified clinical unit.
  • Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Abington – Jefferson Health (AJH) the hospital of choice for patients and employees. - 40%
  • Performs initial triage assessment/data collection in systematic manner to identify care needs of the patient. - 10%
  • Formulates a goal-directed plan of care that prescribes intervention to attain safe quality patient outcomes. - 10%
  • Implements care in a knowledgeable and skillful manner through adherence to contemporary evidence-based standards. - 10%
  • Evaluates care delivery by ensuring the patient is attaining desired outcomes or by identifying clinical issues that need to be re-addressed. - 10%
  • Incorporates computer technology into patient care delivery. - 10%
  • Acquires and maintains current knowledge in nursing practice to deliver quality patient care. - 5%
  • Contributes to professional development of self, peers and colleagues to support staff development. - 5%
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Experience as a registered nurse (emergency trauma/critical care or telemetry) required.
  • Professional Registered Nurse degree.
  • Graduate of approved school of nursing.
  • BSN required.
  • Current professional nurse licensure from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or eligible for licensure in PA is required.
  • Certified in American Heart Association “Healthcare Provider BLS” (CPR) is required in addition to ACLS and PALS.

Conditions of Employment:
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act,  including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI fingerprint-based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
