The Hematology Medical Oncology Nurse Practitioner reports to the Hematology Medical Oncology Division Chief or his designee, and is a registered professional who works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health team. This position will encompass a rotation of inpatient consults and outpatient ambulatory care. Responsible for providing comprehensive care to the hematology oncology patients at Abington – Jefferson Health. The Hematology Medical Oncology Nurse Practitioner functions in an expanded role within the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act and departments of Medicine and Nursing and in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner clinical protocols. The Nurse Practitioner is granted affiliate privileges by the Abington Hospital – Jefferson Health Medical Board in which the privileges list specific medical protocols and procedures that are reviewed biannually. Provides care to patients aged 18 to 100+ years.
This position is part of Abington – Jefferson Health’s new Asplundh Cancer Pavilion. Training for this position will take place at Abington – Jefferson Health’s main campus. Once the Pavilion is open and operational, this position will transfer to the Cancer Center (located in the Willow Grove area of Pennsylvania).
Prefer minimum of 2 years’ experience as a registered nurse in oncology-related area.
Master’s degree in Nursing and certificate from Nurse Practitioner program with training in adult health.
Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Current Pennsylvania Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) certificate.
Must have a minimum of licensure in adult care.
Preferred AOCN in oncology.
Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
Written and verbal skills in the English language.
Knowledge of clinical and organizational skills/techniques, as well as knowledge of hospital ancillary department functions generally acquired through education and/or experience in related field.
