This is a full-time faculty position located at our Jefferson College of Nursing – Abington – Dixon Campus, located in Abington, Pennsylvania.

Faculty Position (Undergraduate) – Jefferson College of Nursing

The Jefferson College of Nursing at Thomas Jefferson University is accepting applications for full-time, employed faculty for the College of Nursing Undergraduate Program – Abington, PA Campus. The primary role of this position is to ensure academic integrity in areas of planning, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum and learning experiences of students in classroom, laboratory/simulation and clinical settings.

The position participates in advising students, curriculum development, program evaluation, teaching in the classroom, and evaluation of student achievement in accordance with the mission, core values and purposes of the college and university.

This is a salaried position with a generous benefit and retirement program. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Interested applicants must possess visionary, creative leadership skills to provide implementation of new curriculum. Responsibilities include collaborating with undergraduate faculty for course planning, implementation and evaluation, as well as identifying student opportunities for service learning, experiential learning, immersion practica and needed resources. Faculty members collaborate with the undergraduate Associate Dean, Dean and support services to achieve program outcomes.

As a faculty member, the applicant must have enthusiasm for teaching future professional nurses. Faculty members serve as advisors and mentors for students, and participate in college meetings and committees. Current practice, scholarship and service to the community are desired. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential.

Reporting:
Reports to the Chair for the respective program.

Position Requirements:
  • Earned PhD or EdD in Nursing or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in a collegiate nursing program or equivalent experience.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills related to innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development, evaluation and supporting students in their journey to become professional nurses or willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills.
  • Evidence of effective teaching through innovative active learning strategies.
  • Evidence of ongoing clinical competency.
  • Demonstrated scholarly productivity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong clinical and professional skills.
  • Leadership and organizational skills.

Conditions of Employment:
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, Act 73, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI fingerprint-based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
