Primary Function:
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Home Health Care, responsible for the assignment of codes to clinical information on home care and hospice medical records according to ICD-9 or ICD-10-CM basic coding rules. The Certified Coding Analyst maintains confidentiality of clinical information and ensures appropriate reimbursement by accurately coding diagnoses and procedures within CMS-OASIS and hospice regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Education & Training: Graduate of program for Registered Records Administrators or Accredited Records Technician preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ years of coding experience is required, preferably in a home health agency.
  • License, Certification & Registration: Home Care Coding Specialist - Diagnosis (HCS-D) is required.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to interpret the informational content of the medical records. Ability to work independently under general supervision. Ability to work with interruption and maintain concentration and attention to detail. Computer and encoder skills are preferred. Proficient in ICD9-CM and ICD-10-CM Basic Coding Rules and Principles and Clinical Medicine. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and Microsoft Office applications.
