Advanced Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner
Nursery - 2N
Per Diem / Casual - 1-2 Shifts per Month, Weekends Included

Primary Function:

Under the clinical direction of the Chairman and members of the Department of Pediatrics and under the administrative direction of the Nurse Director, Women's/Children's Services, the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care for the neonate 35 weeks or greater at birth and in the Newborn Nursery. He/she functions in an expanded role in the Newborn Nursery and as defined in the Nurse Practice Act. He/she utilizes the nursing process, integrating medical protocols to provide care to the neonate.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities – Percentage of Time:

  1. Supports the mission of the institution to meet or exceed the expectation of our internal and external customers, utilizing established standards of behavior. – 40%
  2. Performs physical exams and preventative health measures within prescribed standards and instructions of physician to identify and meet care needs. Documents patient assessment and progress in patient chart. – 30%
  3. Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and healthcare needs. – 10%
  4. Discusses care with physician and other health professional to prepare comprehensive patient plan of care. – 10%
  5. Develops and implements, in collaboration with the departments of Pediatrics and Nursing, educational programs to meet patients' and staff's learning needs. – 10%
  6. Performs other related duties and requests as assigned. – 0%

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 3 years of experience with newborn care or as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Education and Training: Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program.
  • License, Certification and Registration: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse and as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
